So gross; so awesome

“With a sigh she drops her hand and stands over the dead plague rats, bracing a foot against each one’s head so that she can tug at the bolts lodged in each skull. Her muscles strain until the arrows slide free with a loud shlurk of a sound.”
That is some crazy-gross-zombie-killing-action from The Dark and Hollow Places (p 229) by the amazing Carrie Ryan. So gross that I can hear & feel the awful shlurk noise and I totally make the supreme ICK face every time I think about it! Ugh!

Friday Reads

My #fridayreads book is Carrie Ryan’s third book in the Forest of Hands and Teeth series: The Dark and Hollow Places.

I am loving it! The second book, The Dead-Tossed Waves, is my favorite so far. I swear I read somewhere that there was going to be a book about the Sisterhood, but I think I made that up. Even so, I’m loving The Dark and Hollow Places just as it is. I was twelfth in line for the book at the library and I just couldn’t wait that long, so I bought it on Monday. I thought I’d finish it by now, but I had a crazy week. I’ve been looking forward to the weekend so that I could become totally immersed in the book.

Yay for a reading weekend! Oh wait, I have tons of other stuff to do, too. But, I will totally stake out some sacred time for reading!

Today I am Tired!

This week has been awesome, for real life, but today I am tired.

I found myself wishing I was snuggled in my bed with my meows READING. I found myself wishing that, like, all the time!
Doesn’t that sound amazing?! Alas, it was not to be.

I really wanted to finish my awesome Monday book. That hasn’t happened, either! I stayed up reading way too late several nights this week. Another reason I’m tired, but always so worth it.

I got to see one of my BF’s from middle school & high school last night. Her awesome parents and amazing kids joined us, too. That was super fun! Totally worth it, but did add to my sleepiness!

My other *wishful* thought this week that just may be keeping me up at night…I just cannot wait until my iPad arrives so that I can bring tons of books with me wherever I go. Schmoopy really outdid himself with that anniversary gift (even though it wasn’t Bling and it didn’t follow the traditional anniversary gift rule!).

Today I am tired, but I’m happy. And I’m surrounded by the people and books (and the Bling & meows) that I love.
